FAQ and Policies

Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions? Answers About Practices and Policies.

01. What services are offered?

I am trained and licensed to offer a variety of massage techniques, stretching, hydrotherapy, and other services within my scope of practice. These include Swedish (relaxation) massage, deep tissue massage, sports massage, integrated massage, chair massage, and other services. I cannot provide diagnoses or prescriptive recommendations. Please see my services page for more information.

02. How do I schedule an appointment?

The fastest and easiest way to book a session is to use the online scheduler. It will give you a complete list of available times for massage. You may also text or call for an appointment.

03. What are the hours of operation?

I generally work seven days per week between the hours of 9 am and 7 pm. All services are by appointment however, so please visit my online scheduler for availability information.

04. Do you accept walk-in patients?

No, all sessions are by appointment only. Occasionally, we may be able to accommodate a same-day request so please feel free to call me.

05. What should I bring to my appointment?

The initial appointment will involve a brief interview to gather your medical history including any medications you may be taking. This is to ensure you have a safe and effective massage session.

06. Do you accept insurance?

No, not at this time.

07. What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, checks, credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, and Zelle only.

08. What safety measures are in place for COVID-19?

General practices include use of freshly laundered linens and sanitization of all surfaces before and between client sessions. During periods of high COVID outbreaks in the community, I may wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including a mask and gloves for our mutual safety.

09. Will I be nude during the massage? Is draping used?

At the start of each session, I complete a brief interview to assess your status and session goals, and determine which modalities will be used. I will then provide you with privacy while you disrobe to your level of comfort, after which you will get onto the table under a draping sheet and blanket. I am able to massage through clothing although some techniques may not be effectively used and/or I may not be able to use media (massage oil or cream). However, I am not responsible for any staining or contact of media with your clothing if you choose to wear it during the session.

Texas law requires that gluteal cleavage, genitals, and breasts are to be covered at all times during the massage. Although breast massage is an approved modality subject to client consent, I do not offer that service. In addition, any actions that are sexual or suggestive in nature are prohibited. Both the client and the therapist have the right to stop a massage session if they are uncomfortable at any time.

10. What is the policy regarding late arrivals and/or cancellations?

If you are late for a massage session, I reserve the right to end the massage at the normally scheduled time and shorten the session accordingly. I may extend the appointment to the full length if my schedule permits.

Life happens and I know that sometimes you may be unable to keep an appointment. I ask that cancellations be made at least 24 hours in advance. I reserve the right to impose a 100% cancellation fee for no-shows or for repeated cancellations at the last-minute.

11. What are the rules governing my massage session?

I comply with Texas statutes and administrative rules governing massage therapy. These rules provide for the following:

(a) A licensee shall provide an initial consultation to each client before the first massage therapy session and obtain the signature of the client on the consultation document. The consultation document shall include:

(1) the type of massage therapy services or techniques the licensee anticipates using during the massage therapy session;
(2) the parts of the client’s body that will be massaged or the areas of the client’s body that will be avoided during the session, including indications and contraindications;
(3) a statement that the licensee shall drape the breasts of all female clients and not engage in breast massage of female clients unless the client gives written consent before each session involving breast massage;
(4) a statement that draping of the genital area and gluteal cleavage will be used at all times during the session for all clients;
(5) a statement that if uncomfortable for any reason, the client may ask the licensee to cease the massage and the licensee will end the massage session;
(6) a statement that the licensee may end the massage session if the licensee feels uncomfortable for any reason;
(7) a statement that the licensee must immediately end the massage session if a client initiates any verbal or physical contact that is sexual in nature; and
(8) the signature of both the client and the licensee.

(b) If the client’s reason for seeking massage therapy changes at any time or any of the information in subsection (a)(1) – (3), is modified, the licensee must provide an updated consultation reflecting any changes and modifications to the techniques used or the parts of the client’s body to be massaged.

(c) A licensee shall obtain a new written consent, signed and dated by the client, before each session in which breast massage of a female client will be performed. This written consent may be documented on a new consultation document or in a separate document.

12. What if I have a complaint about the services?

If you are in any way dissatisfied or unhappy with the services, please speak with me directly about your concerns. I strive for 100% customer satisfaction and I want you to feel comfortable to be able to share thoughts with me.
